United Way of Metro Chicago Honors the Region’s Most Philanthropic Leaders

ITW and John W. Rogers, Jr. recognized at annual luncheon event

Chicago, IL – June 2, 2022 - United Way of Metro Chicago hosted the 2022 Stronger Neighborhoods Awards Luncheon in celebration of the commitment of business, civic, nonprofit and community leaders working alongside United Way to build a stronger, more equitable Chicago region.

At today’s annual luncheon event at the Marriott Marquis, United Way raised more than $1 million to support their vision to build stronger, more equitable neighborhoods. By uniting changemakers across industries, United Way works to ensure that businesses, government, nonprofits, and agency and community leaders are working together to address the Chicago region’s most pressing needs.

“At United Way, we are grateful for the generosity of our partners who continue to show up and be there for our neighbors and our neighborhoods, deepening their commitment to building a stronger, more equitable Chicago region during especially challenging times,” said Sean Garrett, president and CEO of United Way of Metro Chicago. “I’m thrilled to be able to come together and celebrate our dedicated civic leaders like ITW, John Rogers and many more for working alongside our community partners on the ground to make every neighborhood a place where all families can thrive.”

This year’s event honored two of the Chicago region’s most distinguished philanthropic leaders and their commitment to improving outcomes for children and families across our region. John W. Rogers, Jr., chairman and co-CEO of Ariel Investments, received the 2022 Andrew J. McKenna Leadership Award in recognition of his commitment as an influential business and philanthropic leader breaking down barriers and building a more diverse and equitable business community. ITW received the 2022 Corporate Leadership Award in recognition of their steadfast partnership with United Way and dedication to embodying a culture of giving back to the communities where their employees live and work.
