Chicago, IL – April 15, 2021 - This April, United Way of Metro Chicago is putting a spin on the traditional bake sale -- its Young Leaders United (YLU) affinity group is hosting IGNITE, a virtual dessert party led by Boka Restaurant Group.
Attendees will receive a pastry box delivered to their door with ingredients and instructions to make a Very Berry Shortcake for two and the option to add bottles of wine. On April 29, they’ll come together for a virtual baking class led by a trained pastry chef.
Proceeds from IGNITE will support United Way of Metro Chicago and its mission to build stronger neighborhoods for a more equitable Chicago region.
United Way partners Exelon/ComEd, Fifth Third Bank and EY are sponsoring this year’s event.
Young Leaders United is a group of young professionals on a mission to encourage philanthropy and volunteerism among their peers, to make a lasting difference for individuals, families and entire neighborhoods. YLU members engage in volunteer projects, networking events and social gatherings across the region to increase awareness of United Way’s Neighborhood Networks Initiative and provide opportunities for young professionals to make a positive impact.
