How to Apply

Impact Fund application process

United Way of Metro Chicago runs a competitive application process supporting high-quality programs that serve individuals and families in our geographic footprint. Agencies selected for funding align precisely with our focus areas, present evidence-based models for service delivery, demonstrate effectiveness with data-rich results and utilize United Way’s measurement framework.

2022 Application Process

The 2022 application process was a closed review with United Way staff, volunteers, and Board of Directors. During this time, it was decided that we will renew all 2021 grantees for grant year 2022.

Our next funding cycle will begin January 1, 2023. We do anticipate a full application process prior to that cycle and will automatically share information in 2022 with our list serve.

United Way of Metro Chicago is proud to launch the United Neighborhoods Equity Fund (UNEF) to support small, Black and brown-led nonprofits predominantly located in the city’s south and west sides and south suburban region – ideally aligned with United Way of Metro Chicago’s Neighborhood Network coalitions, and connect them to new investment opportunities. Organizations will have Black or brown leadership, be rooted and respected in local communities, and have an interest in building new capacity.
