PRIOR TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, MORE THAN 500,000 COOK COUNTY RESIDENTS WERE FOOD-INSECURE. THIS NUMBER IS ESTIMATED TO HAVE INCREASED BY 51% IN 2020*
April Food Day is United Way of Metro Chicago’s annual food collection event and awards luncheon that addresses food insecurity in the south-southwest suburbs, a region facing high levels of poverty and systemic education, health, and wealth inequities that were amplified by COVID-19.
Meeting the basic needs of our neighbors is a key part of United Way’s approach to building a stronger, more equitable Chicago region. Through donations of non-perishable food items, household goods and financial support, YOU can help make this possible for individuals and families in the south-southwest suburbs. We can’t do it without YOU!
