Join us for a free virtual conversation with nationally respected scholar and educator Dr. Andre M. Perry, Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution. Dr. Perry’s pioneering work focuses on race, structural inequality, and economic inclusion. He is the author of the 2020 book, Know Your Price: Valuing Black Lives and Property in America’s Black Cities.

While homeownership is the primary pathway to wealth creation for the average American, historic practices such as redlining made it impossible for Black families to participate. Now, laws have changed to prevent legal discrimination, but devaluation still adversely affects majority-Black neighborhoods and homeowners. Dr. Perry has studied this practice in cities around the country and offers his insights about how it fits into the larger picture of structural inequality for Black people in America. You won’t want to miss this important conversation.
