April Food Day is United Way of Metro Chicago’s annual food collection event and awards luncheon that addresses food insecurity in the south-southwest suburbs, a region facing high levels of poverty and systemic education, health, and wealth inequities that were amplified by COVID-19.

In celebration of Women’s History Month, United Way of Metro Chicago’s Women United chapter hosted Purposeful Transitions: Leveraging Personal Growth for Community Impact with keynote speaker Dorri McWhorter.

This Martin Luther King Jr. Day, you’re invited to an exclusive conversation about the civil rights movement in Chicago, as told by the Urban Historian and TikTok sensation Shermann “Dilla” Thomas. Dilla will reflect on Dr. King’s 1966 campaign to secure open and affordable housing and how that movement shaped the Chicago we know today.

United Way of Metro Chicago, in partnership with the Baumhart Center of Loyola University, invite you to our upcoming virtual Neighborhood Exchange, "Connecting the Dots: Human Services and Economic Development." The panelists will discuss how economic development plays an essential role in the transformation of neighborhoods and can also expand and support human services.

Join us for a virtual panel conversation regarding the crucial role economic empowerment plays in the stability of domestic violence survivors. The discussion will highlight innovative programming and services that help survivors break free from the cycle of abuse.

United Way of Metro Chicago’s Young Leaders United (YLU) held a virtual Speaker Series on Sept. 30, 2021 featuring Kamau Murray, founder and CEO of XS Tennis and Educational Foundation (XSTEF).
