Far South Community Vision

As a new Neighborhood Network launched in 2022, Far South will be working to build its coalition and begin implementing its community vision over the next three years.

Neighborhood Network in Action

The Far South Neighborhood Network was included in the expansion of the Neighborhood Network Initiative in 2022 due to its existing plans and vision, strong community leadership, stakeholder and funder interest, the proposed expansion of the Red Line, and the Far South Chicago Coalition’s high degree of readiness for implementing the Neighborhood Network model.

Coalition Highlights

The Far South Chicago Coalition produced a Quality-of-Life Plan in 2021. Through funding and staffing support provided by the McCormick Foundation and United Way, Far South will build its coalition and create and implement a community vision.

Joyce Chapman

President of the Far South Chicago Coalition

“We are fundamentally lifting up the humanity of the people so that we can successfully make a collective impact for the betterment of us all. Having partners like United Way who value a place-based, community-led approach is vital to transforming neighborhoods and improving health, educational, and economic outcomes.”
