Projects and Opportunities
Mock Phone Interviews
Obtaining a job is a critical piece to individual and family success. Sometimes, the only thing keeping job seekers from getting a job is nailing that interview. Our Mock Phone Interview program offers Job Seekers the opportunity to gain experience confidence through practice and Volunteer Interviewers an opportunity to provide support and advice to those seeking employment.
Virtual Pack and Learn Care Projects
Individually or with a small group, create “shoe box” kits of supplies requested by United Way agency partners. While packing your boxes, you can learn about our Neighborhood Network Initiative and hear from United Way staff and/or community leaders working to support recovery efforts. All “shoe boxes” will go directly to the agency that requested the supplies. Types of kits include Literacy Kits, Hygiene Kits, Snack Packs, and Baby Kits. Visit the Virtual Pack and Learn Care Project page to learn how you get involved.
Creating Protective Face Masks
Non-profits across Chicago are on the front lines providing support to families and individuals in need. A lot of agencies don’t have protective equipment for employees and clients who need services. Help us create masks to send out to our partners in need.
If you are participating in a workplace campaign and are interested in learning more about the above opportunities, career panels, or skills-based volunteering, please contact your United Way representative or email firstname.lastname@example.org to be connected with a Corporate Engagement Manager.

United, we will build stronger neighborhoods for a stronger Chicago region.
