At our core, United Way is a connector and convener. We believe that lasting change occurs when we partner together and work toward a common goal. That’s why we’ve teamed up with organizations such as the Chicago Federation of Labor and the NFL to turn ideas into action. Through our strategic partnerships, we’re able to make tangible progress toward building a stronger, more equitable Chicago region for all our neighbors.
Unemployment currently affects 318,000 Illinois residents. Through Access United, United Way and the Chicago Federation of Labor are increasing job opportunities by connecting job seekers with the tools they need to succeed in the skilled trades. Access United is only possible through our partnerships with the Construction Industry Service Corporation and the Chicago and Cook County Building and Construction Trades Council.
United for ALICE – Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed – brings together United Ways, foundations, academic institutions, corporations, and other state organizations to research and better understand the financial struggles many households face.
